Answers for the pre-employment Intelligence Testing

Question 5: B
If the ratio of money between the two sons is 2:3, then the portion for the son receiving the larger amount out of the $2000 is 3/(2+3) or 3/5. To calculate the largest portion, we need to multiply 3/5 x $2000 = $1200.

Question 6: C
From the left-hand table we can see that the Premium package gives 18 hours of free viewing a month; so, for 3 months we would have 54 hours free. The Basic package gives 6 hours of free viewing per month, so a six-month contract would give us 36 hours (6 x 6) free. In total, the combined packages over nine months would give us 90 hours of free viewing (54 + 36).

Question 7: D
From June to July, there is a reduction of 5 accidents, and from July to August, a reduction of 4. Also, October to November has a reduction of 1. The pattern here is that each month has 1 less reduction than the previous one. So, the reduction from August to September will be 3; therefore, the accidents in September will be: 79 – 3 = 76. Note: the answer can be confirmed by continuing the pattern from September: 76 – 2 = 74, and that is correct for October as per the table.

Question 8: C
If selling water generated 20 million Euros of sales in the European market and 20 million Japanese Yen in the Asian market, then to calculate the ratio between these figures we need to convert the Japanese Yen to euros. Using the conversion rate offered in the question, we can learn that 20 million Japanese Yen are 20 million / 0.8 Euros = 25 million Euros. Hence, the ratio between the annual sales of water in the two markets is 20 : 25 or 4 : 5.
